Dayton DC50F-8 2" Dome Midrange

They sound pretty good to me. The problem I was running into with them is they don't play very well at all below about 700- 800hz. So you need a midbass that can play really high to go with them. So now I have them in my center channel for my ht. Very accurate, and detailed. A little tinny sounding on some frequencies but not harsh, just a smidge of tinny sounding. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Where do you have everything now? There are other ways of raising the sound stage without throwing some mids up on the dash. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

There is a big part of the problem right there. The position of the tweeters being so close ( to the listener) and low is going to kill your stage height. Did you test listen to the tweeters in the sail panels or a pillars? Do you have any kind of processing ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I tired different places I could move then upand put them in the sails. They would be closer but almost at ear leavel. I also have a set up high above the A-pillars.

I was thinking about putting the 2" mids on the dash reflecting off the windshield close the the windshield.

So if I put the tweets in the sails how much of an angle would I have to do.

You can deal with the close proximity to the listener simply by lowering the level on the tweeters a few db in reference to the rest of the system.

Not much at all really, don't want them directly on axis to you. Maybe start out 5-10 degrees towards the listener from firing straight across the car at each other. What's the crossover point on the set of tweets up high? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the same as the ones in the pods. I just tied them in. I will go ahead and put the tweets in the sails and recover the pods.. One of the reason I was avoiding the sails was because of the steering wheel and dash . they protrude out towards the driver and may be obstructed.

this deck only has freq cut off at hp 80hz, 100hz, 120hz, 140hz and 160 hz. It has a sub out lp at 80hz, 100hz, 120hz, 140hz, 160hz.

Here are some more pictures so you can see why I hesitated with putting them in the sails. All ideas welcome..

Before you put them in sails are you going to try the pillars?take some velcro & try many different spots before you start to fab anything
That's the first thing I do , break out the velcro for the tweets and the dish towels more the mids. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I would stick them up on the sails with some velcro and give it a listen. I bet the steering wheel and dash doesn't block that much. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

maybe if I have like a 45 degree angle. I will mess with it soon enough. the overall system sound is pretty good. harmony, nice depth,

I still think the 2"mids might be neccesary to lift the image.

you don't want to separate the tweeter and dome mid. if you get a dome mid, place the tweeter right next to it, as close as possible.

simply raising your tweeters will raise your sound stage. i haven't been impressed with door tweeters. few sail panel installs have impressed me - mostly depends on the doors and how far away the tweeters are.

the dash may block the driver tweeter to the passenger, but what do you think your entire body is doing now?

maybe in the sail panel but aimed at the windshield, so everyone gets a reflection? granted, a concave reflector is usually poor. dash corners? that's the beauty of velcro - you can test any location, angle, aiming, etc. what makes the apillar off limits to you? if it's all about sound, and you put tweeters in the location that sounds the best - no exceptions.

Are you talking about the 2" Dome Midrange I am loking to buy? If so, then I was thinking the same thing. I dont really see any place to put it other than the dash at the lower corner base of the windshield with a slight angle so it instantly reflects off the glass and back to the listening area. I could put the tweets there also. I have not done anything yet. I will soon thou. I will try moving them around and listening to what sounds better.
