Dayton Audio RSS315HO-44 12" Reference HO DVC Subwoofer - need advice

I am planning of getting this sub. In looking at the parameters, I see that the recommended sealed box volume is .49cf.

I can't use a custom box, so that is out of the question.

I am looking for suggestions of premade boxes to consider: both sealed and ported.

I noticed that ported box frequency is 20hz lower than sealed frequency. Ported boxes I have used in the past sounded muddy to me I prefer, unless I can be swayed otherwise, to use a sealed box.

.49cf seems awfully small for a sub box.

I haven't see a sealed box that is that small, and even if it was close, the they are wedged, and it seems the top part is only llike 5.5 inches deep. I am not even sure this sub would fit.

Well, thanks.

I own the 10 inch versions used to own the 12. Yes they like a small box. Keep in mind displacement you want a box slightly larger than the recommended because the sub will take up some of that volume. Unless the displacement was already factored in. Those subs are fairly shallow. I built a sealed box for one of them to spec at the time which I believe was somewhere around .7cu ft. That turned out well.

Also, is this dayton dvc sub wired at 2 ohms? I am also getting a new amp, and was considering the alpin mr-500. But now I am not sure if it is powerful enough for this sub. Can you advise me on an amp with a clean signal to power this sub?
