My AVN does not fit perfectly into my dash cage, Im looking to custom fabricate a better looking double din slot for my avn...

What should I make it out of along with the existing cage?

How hard is it?

And i wana paint the whole cage to make it look stock. How do I do this? Suggestions please.

Its like the attached picture but with a double din not a single din...

The double dins the second picture but its too dark and no flash to see whats missing

never really done much custom, but like the guys above said, maybe get some plastic and cut out a strip to cover the area above the unit. (from the pic it looks like thats the only gap. does it fit well on the sides?) glue it with 40/40 or something along those lines, then sand and use some bondo to make everything even and paint it.

oh and does the unit have a metal cage around it u can remove? usually u can use that to make it stay in place.

Yes...

The HVAC is seperate / slide into the cage... the whole cage comes out... So i can remove it and custom fabricate a perfect pocket.

My new plan is this... taking the cage out.. glassing the front and filling it in from behind with something or making wood or something to give the back of the unit support...

Then RECUTTING a hole in the front the exact side of the unit. maybe a bit small since the unit has "lips" on the side making it sit in there then screwing it in to the holes on the unit from the out side.
