Dash Disassembly

I am trying to remove the dash on a 2001 Honda Odyssey. I want to install a Clarion DXZ655MP that I got for my parents for Christmas. I don't see any screws on this piece, so I am not even sure where to start taking it apart. Thanks

usually there are 2 screws above ure gauges going into ure dash (top part by windsheild) and then one in ure glove box thats where mine were...

lmao u got luckier than i. remove console, remove dash plastic, remove deck, install dash plastic, install deck, install console......roughly 5 screws and 10000 clips.

note to you all, just because you all have an automobile does not mean that they will have any similar way to remove the stereo.

The Odyssey is Honda's minivan, Req. My parents have two of them (an '03 and a '99)...both came with OEM AM/FM/CD with an auxillary cassette deck underneath.

I wouldn't have the first clue, dude. As they are my parents' vehicles (and between the two of them they own precisely 12 CDs....the OEM equipment is more than sufficient for them) I've not had the pleasure.

You know how Crutchfield will send you the MasterSheet diagrams showing disassembly/assembly instructions specific to your vehicle when you order something from them? Well, they'll now sell you just the MasterSheets without having to buy any audio gear. I think they're like $4 or $5 plus whatever they charge to ship something like that ~ so less than $10 I would imagine.

Could be a heckuva handy purchase to someone....

I work at a Honda dealer in the service dept., so here is how it is done (be brave) Set the parking brake, and then with the engine off move the shift lever down to 1. Use a large hook type tool (I use a mac hose remover at work) and hook it behind the black plastic section that extends all the way around the radio, do it lower than higher so if it divots the edge it won't be as noticeable.give it a good solid tug (this is the bravery part) the entire black panel is held on by clips, they are tight, and there is a tone of them. once you get an edge loose, you can work your way around and then unplug the heater controls and remove it. The radio/pocket are then held in by brackets and 4 screws if memory serves. Good luck, pm me with any further questions- just make sure you pry from the left witha hook so you don't scratch the dash or jack up the trim panel.
