ok im a bit frustrated. about a month ago i bought some xenon comps and hooked em up and after a day only the tweet would play on the left side. i pulled out the speaker and had to physically push the cone down to have the speaker play. so i brought it back to the store and they gave me a new one. so the past month all has been well until tonight i noticed the left didnt sound good. i turned the balance all the way to left, and, only tweeter again!! i pulled it out and it is wont play even if i push the cone a little so it isnt the same problem. i checked my speaker wires and they all are fine. crossover seems fine too. what is wrong? any ideas are appreciated. the other side plays perfect and everything else is fine. my amp seems to be working perfect too its just the left speaker

????Oh thanks now I wont be able to sleep tonight //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

j/k, I havn't a clue, the only thing I can think of is that you have the xover too low and are damaging the speakers.

have the crossover too low? are you talking about the crossover for the comps? i dont get how i could set it too low if the right side sound perfect and the driver side tweet sounds fine?? thanks for the reply, how should i investigate this what should i do to narrow it down so i know if it is the speaker or xover etc?

i just want to make sure it is the speaker before going through that whole ordeal, aagain. and the last time the dude there told me that there was no way thats how the speaker came and i told him there is no way my install or amp couldve damaged the speaker after so short of time with the gain turned all the way down and not listening to it loudly.

Well both speakers won't blow at the same time, one can give before the other does, if you are sending too much low frequency power to them the VC can get damaged (the tweeters are already protected so the woofer tends to be the one to blow).

If this happened to me I would simply exchange the product for somthing more reliable.

If it continues after that, the left channel on your amp is putting out some funky shit.

hey thanks bro i appreciate it. so let me bug ya once more-how will i know if the crossovers are set to low and damaging speakers? are you talking about the crossover that comes with the component set or on my amp or on my head unit? if the left channel of the amp is bad, is there a way to confirm this? you think my situation calls for a replacement product? thanks also wouldnt a blown speaker sound muffled and stuff cuz it makes no noise at all except for tweet

swap the speaker wires coming out of the amp. Left set for Right. That'll tell you pretty quickly if the amp is bad, but don't turn it up loud if you've already gone through two sets of left speakers!

Other questions that would help answer your questions.

Details on the amp?

2 channel or 4 channel bridged?

Is the amp capable of putting out more than RMS of the speakers?

Details of the HU? Output voltage on RCA's too high for even amp to be set at minimum gains?
