Wooden crate would be ideal, but who has those laying around. Honestly, I think the sub should have been double boxed with shit around it. The box was flimsy as hell. Looked like one of those bubble wrap boxes. People can be so quick to blame UPS. I mean God forbid they stack something on top of your box while it's on the truck. I can't say it enough that any shipment should be able to survive a 6-8 foot drop from any angle. Or if you know you're gonna be buying sub and selling them off, keep the boxes. I just don't understand how FI, DD, AQ, Sundown etc, can ship subs and amps all day and never have these issues. I got my AQ stuff through UPS, and the worst that happened was there was a small tear in the the box holding my sub.
Not saying that the shipper isn't taking responsibility, but UPS didn't pack the box up for you did they?
