That... is debatable. My humble opinion says NO, you don't get what you pay for, in many instances. I know a guy who paid $275 per sub and got a ported enclosure. It STILL sounded like shit. I have no beef with their products, only their prices.

Noone could possibly come to a good conclusion. There is not enough info. Saying it's because the subs are jl is crazy. They could have been anything and blown. Enclosure, impedance, power, amp, or just for the sake of argument the fact it was a jl.

Shame those things blew up ,but speakers do that when people have lots of fun with them. I would feel deprived if I ever got a subwoofer that I really couldn't break. I should have known something was wrong with the subs when I only paid $100CDN for both subs.

Oh well. Sh!t happens.

I've never really blown a speaker, per se, but I've only been learning about car audio for less than a year.

I didn't mean to instigate a JL war thread. And I agree with skeetskurt that it's unreasonable to say they blew because they said JL on them.

i never blown a speaker of sub unless it is intentionaly and i get the worst stink imaginable out of my alpines and they still kick...

and my ol sony still kickin even after a day at an SPL comp with 750 rms into it for about 15 seconds at a time an i was giving it a flogin too and it stinked good
