Damaged amp

Learn on something else unless you just don't want it any longer.

Send it off for repairs.

Look for soldering tutorials on diy sites.

Electronics repairs aren't where you should start soldering, sorry.

The amp looks very easy to fix. I already tried fixing a complete junk model and ended up sending it for repair. Im going to hold on to this amp and do one part at a time after I get much practise soldering other shit. Either that or ill have someone do it. I can afford to mail it to the mainland (from hawaii) then pay for it to be repaired , then pay for shipping back.

Its more worth my while if i fix myself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks.

What annoys me is i asked the guy i bought it from if it was burnt. He said no. If it was, i would have had him ship it straight to USAMPS. Now that I have it it would cost me 50 to ship it there and 50 to ship back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

After I replace the obvious burnt parts, is there any way for me to test the mofsets?

aahh.. didn't know where you lived. I'd try to have someone repair it that has an electronics degree and does it for a living. There's plenty of stuff to 'learn on'. That's just my opinion though. G/L. You've read other repair threads and know that the blown components PATH needs to be traced and it's something ahead or behind it that usually causes the failure of the component. It's more than I want to tackle.

well the board was a bit charred near the Toroids. I took some 8 gauge flared wire and im very very gently cleaning away the burnt black char. It looks good. The thing about US AMPS is that the boards are symmetrical so i can look on the other side of the board to find the component that belongs on the opposite side.

Tonight Ill take some high res shots and post them to see what you guys think. The black char looks concentrated around the Left Channel near resistors and transistors. I will look around my area for someone who can help me out with this.

Meanwhile if anyone here could look at it and perhaps give me a suggestion id be really thankful.

I just found out that probably over 100 parts need to be replaced to get it to work!

I found a guy local who does electronics, so ill see what I can do.
