this lady i works with son cut the end of his finger off like that at his work (garage door company) and it grew all the way back....they put this piece of metal thing where the nail was supposed to be at first until it started growing back then it fell off....idk wat it was for tho.

Yes...almost identical thing happened to the tips of two of my fingers.

^ thats wat i was kinda thinking but it wasnt on but for a couple days until it fell off....that would **** either way tho...he only got like a $1800 settlement from it....then 2 weeks l8er after he went back to work he was layed off....well back to OP...be sure your dad keeps like ointment on that and not just dry gauze...cause once the blood dries to dry cause its PAINFUL pulling that gauze off...the guy i mentioned went to a local med supply shop and bought theses bandages that are like made for fingers and have this jelly stuff on em.
