Cutting the "X" behind the rear seatback

yes... it is safe... If anything, may be just add a front/rear strut brace but you don't NEED to do that.

People will try and tell you it is vital to the structure of the vehicle and blah blah but look at it, is is 16gauge (at best) steel with like three spot welds holding it in place. Your car will not fold in half or anything from removing it! I have done so on SEVERAL cars.

Just seen the Mark VIII in your sig. I have actually done this to two MRK8's with no ill effects at all. it is mainly there to keep the rear seat back somewhat firm.

I remember beating on my buddies trunk with a hammer to get a box in......needless to say, beat a little to much and knocked the fuel pump/float around and the fuel gauge didn't work properly after...lol

Dont listen to K-schutte, it is important, it a structural portion that helps with side impact towards the rear of the car, supports the rear window and trunk. You can take it out, but i wouldnt advise doing so without putting some more bracing in. also with any modification, your insurance could give you fits if you ever get in a wreck.

i want to know where you guys got your sources from? K Schutte is the only one who has given logical advice.
Yeah, and I am the only ASE certified technician, ICAR certified welder and probably the only person in this thread who spent 4 years at Wyotech learning what he knows and that has been around cars since he was about 3 years old...

but hey, what do I know...

OP, I am right, cut it out, if something bad happens, I will buy you a new car and **** your dick...

have any of the cars youve done this to been in an accident? im not trying to pick a fight, i just dont want the dudes car total'd. it wont put his life in danger to do it, maybe his wallet. if he cuts it out i suggest framing the hole with some small steel tubing, just to be safe.

Hold on a sec..... You come into my build thread say my car and build look like shit. You make comments on how a real car and build wouldnt cut up or devalue the car (which I've never done or taken out anything in my car) then you start a thread asking about cutting up your car.

Is it me or is this not the definition of hypocrite?
