I made my prototype PVC speaker spacers for the front doors in my Sentra, and after looking at how they fit to add depth and to allow varied speaker sizes to fit in my car, I decided to offer to make these for other people. So far I have sold a few Maxima/Sentra-specific sets, btu just basic rings will be useful to people with all different vehicles- particularly those just needing more mounting depth.

What I am offering is to make custom speaker spacers out of a PVC material that will not warp, crack, or bend. I will be offering custom inner and outer diameter cutouts. The only bad thing is that I won't be able to test fit them with your speakers, but I can go 1/16" wide (if desired) to allow for imperfections. The inner cutout is a very clean and even cut while the puter (cut by hand) is slightly irregular.

The ones that I will be offering for general sale will be basic rings WITHOUT the "wings" on the Sentra-specific sets above. They will be more like the one below (the pic below is MDF).

I have completed the first few sets of water/weatherproof door spacers. These are 1" thick. Custom thicknesses may be available, depending on demand. PM me for more info.

I will have enough material to make at least a dozen more sets. I will start taking money now that I have them in hand. They are made of dense closed-cell PVC plastic (think Trex decking) and are smooth. I have followed roughly the same shape as the MDF ones that other people have/make.

Please keep in mind that these are NOT going to warp or rot, and that the materials are more expensive to buy and harder to work with than are MDF or similar products. $30 (SHIPPED) would seem fair to me, as the MDF ones are selling for around $25. If yo uneed custom "wings" on the pouter perimeter, please let me know via PM and we can discuss price.

What are they made of?

Azek trim boards. This stuff is about $4.50 a linear foot. Each pair will take about a foot and a half to 2 feet. We're not talking MDF at $20 a sheet. A piece that is 1" thick by 8" wide and 10' long is $42.

Moderators- let me know if it is okay to use this post to sell them.

What are they and why do I need them?

They are rings (usually made of MDF) that allow you to mount a deeper speaker in the stock door locations. These expand the range of speakers that you can run in the doors.

Why these and not MDF?

The problem with MDF is that is can get soggy or rod if not properly sealed, and it also splits out easily if not properly pre-drilled. Mine will be made of closed-cell PVC, which does not warp, crack easily, or mold. It is also as dense as MDF, which cuts down on door vibrations.

Either type are easy to make- IF you have the right tools. Those who do not are forced to buy them from people who do have the tools. These PVC ones are a LOT harder to make than MDF ones, but I have made 2 sets. I have enough material to make about 10-12 more sets.

So this is how it breaks down...I used to build houses for a living. I have a few Azek boards sitting around. They are weatherproof. I need door spacers for my own car, and I'd like for them to be weatherproof. For me, cutting these and using them is easier than to cut them out of MDF and then to have to seal them, so I am using what I have available. This works for me. BECAUSE people looking at other spacers always seem to get their panties in a bunch about "are they primed, are they sealed, are they painted?" I thought that I would offer to sell these to people who care about them being weatherproof.

If these are worth the peace of mind to spend a few more bucks over MDF ones, then people will buy them. If not, I will make the trial run, use them, and the world will go on.

Also available will be 9" by 9" sound deadening squares made from B-Quiet sound deadening material. (http://www.b-quiet.com). I can include eight 9"x9" squares of their original deadening product. It is not on their site, but I bought a bulk of it to deaden my Jeep Cherokee and I have some of it left. I just found it or I would have used it myself. The deadening squares are available for an additonal $12 (shipped) for all eight. This will be enough to do the absolute basics to the outer door skin, inner door skin (both sides) and to use a ring around the speaker as a gasket.

Please PM me for info on these custom spacers!
