Custom Porter Box

I am having a custom ported box made for 1 12" type r that will be powered by an mtx 600xd and I was told that the box would be good is tuned to about 35Hz but when I talked to the person making the box he said that it should be tuned to 40 Hz. What do you guys think?

for daily listening i would stay at 35 htz

not at all....however you don't want to set the subsonic filter on your amp too low....i believe a half octave below tuning is where you want to set it. So right around 30 htz should be fine

Sorry I am a noob with car audio. What exactly does that mean? And how should I tell that to my installer?

tell him to set the subsonic filter to 30 htz....if he is worth the install fee he should know what that means

Tell your installer to set the subsonic filter on your bass amp around 30 hertz

if hey knew what he was doing he wouldnt be tuning a 12" Hype R to 40Hz, the 8" sub in my wifes truck is tuned lower then that. also alot of amps dont have subsonic filters. and i thought the rule of thumb for a SSF is 10Hz below tuning

Yea I guess your right but at least I know now what to tell him. Should I have him set the subsonic filter to 30Hz or 25Hz if I tell him to tune the box to 35Hz?
