Custom Installs/Trunks in New Jersey

Hey guys,

Does anyone here do custom trunks in the Jersey area. I'm in Central Jersey. And I'm looking to get my trunk done nice and clean. Also need a custom fabricated HU dash kit for my Double Din. Might have something in the works already for that though. Listed in my sig is what I have, well I don't have the XXX yet but I will shortly.

I want the sub centered in the trunk, everything flush mounted, so when you look down at the amps you just see the face of the amps. I think you have to build a false floor or something and mount the amps to that slightly under the trunk floor level. Post here or hit me up on PM with an estimate.

i would, but i dont live in jersey- nor do i have the time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

but that sounds like a good plan. make sure to make pictures, and try to sketch\draw up plans

Yeah I don't want anything like that, just nice and simple. Here's a question. You know how most trunks towards the back they end up getting smaller and smaller? Prolly cuz of the rear wheel wells etc? Well, should I try to fiberglass that area and then put a flat face on the front of the box to get all the space I can get for my XXX? It may be a little hard to understand but I want everything flush and I think the recommended specs for the XXX are to wide(30") to push the box all the way back into my trunk to make the face of the box flush with like the top of the trunk. Kinda hard to explain. I'll see if I can get a pic.

Here is an TL trunk and you see in the back it gets smaller? FYI this install was done by Steeteffectz also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and I want the face of the box to come down flush from where his changer is

Wht do you guys think? Fiberglass that area or build a box to fit that area? I either want a 12" or 15" XXX.

I really wanted a 15 but RE recommends 4 cuft and only 2.1 cuft for a 12". Is that correct? And how do I determine cuft again? Multiply lenghtxwidthxheight and you divide that number by what? 1728 or something?

you could avoid fiberglassing and just do a bezel over the front of the XXX covering from edge to edge of the trunk, as far as the amp mounted as the pic above that is so simple to do

Thanks Manny,

What's a bezel? Is that like a flat peice of wood that I can put in there to make everything flush? Also would I carpet that before I put it in or after. I was thinking after right? cuz how would you mount it if it's already carpeted? Then I was thinking how hard is it to carpet it while in the trunk. I knew I would have to add that peice but my question is do you think I would have enough cuft for an XXX if I don't fiberglass and just try to fit a box into that back space?

Also, I've seen some XXX box designs and it looks like the doubled up the wood on the front inside were the sub sits. Could I just skip that step and add a peice on the outside(bezel I think?)

Sorry for all the question

I wasn't really considering mounting the amps there, I think I want them on the floor of the trunk, not sure yet.
