But tariffs don't work...
I wonder how much of it was the threat of "Enhanced Customs Inspections." I bet when the Cartels heard about that, Gustavo got a phone call advising him to reconsider his position on the repatriation flights. TBH, it could all be a rouse; Columbia had been accepting repatriation flights from the US. Maybe the short notice pissed Gustavo off or something. Either way, bye bye to this group of criminals.

How much money does that military base pump into the Honduran economy? How long would there democracy last without a US military base there to prop it up? Almost $200m in aid in 2024 as well. You can take your brothers and sisters back. Hopefully the European countries can see that they don't have to be a dumping ground for the rest of the world's problems.

Trump has already demonstrated it can be worse than tariffs as evidenced by Columbia.

Groceries aren't getting cheaper, kinda like Mexico was never really gonna pay for the wall. OTOH, if grocery prices remain flat, I think most Americans will accept that as a victory.

The latter portion of 2023 and all of 2024 have seen rates very similar to what we've seen across the past 5 decades.

I would hope that he would keep at least one of his useful promises, but it already looks like it's gonna' be forgotten. Hell, he walked it back right after he got elected based on that as a promise.

Oh well. I guess his voters will learn the hard way. And probably figure out a way to blame Democrats when he doesn't deliver.

What is that a chart of? Specifically regarding grocery prices, yeah they flattened toward the end of Sleepy Joe's term, but they also spiked during Joe's stay at the WH. I'm not a big believer in POTUS's being responsible for inflation, but who should take the blame here? Do you think Joe really deserves credit for the flattening after the massive spike?

It's inflation rates of groceries in the US. I forgot to paste the link: https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/food-inflation-in-the-united-states/
I guess if he takes the blame for the spike, he takes credit for the decline. Isn't that logical?

As for responsibility, I think Trump has chosen to be responsible by making a direct and specific claim that he will reduce grocery prices. Same for gas prices. No?

Nope. For example, I'm not going to credit Trump for Covid going away, when it's really because the virus has mutated to less deadly strained. Fact should always trump rhetoric even when it would be politically convenient/inconvenient to do so. When rhetoric trumps facts, we live in delusion. I prefer reality to delusion.
