Criminal records are public-access for many states.
Alex Pretti had no criminal record, and his last interaction with law enforcement was a traffic citation a decade ago.

Law Enforcement is not allowed to prevent someone from taking pictures or video of their activity, as long as the person is not interfering with said activity.

Under 18 U.S.C. § 875/876, it is a federal crime to make an interstate threat of violence by gun, even if you do not have a gun.
Criminal threats and terroristic threats are not taken lightly by law enforcement. Probably worse if they are done by previously-convicted criminals.
