I've got a kx1200.1 and it doesn't have any fuses on the amp. Should I put a fuse a few inches away from the amp? I've got a fuse at the battery but I was wondering if another fuse would be a good idea?

it has internal fusing. if you don't have another battery in the back or something, the front fuse is good enough.

oh it does? I haven't taken the front plate off yet so I didn't know. are the internal fuses easy to change?

shouldn't be a need to "change" it. check the website and get the manual to get the fuse rating and make sure your fuse coming off your battery is about that size.

the fuse for your big three (battery + to alt +) should be the size of your alt amperage output, so it will depend on the type os car you have. and yes, put a 150a fuse on the wire going from the battery to the amp.

ok thanks, know of anywhere I can look up the output of my alt? my car is an 06 malibu with a 3.5 v6

it should be on the alt somewhere, if not check like pep boys, autozone. I think its in the 110a range

just found it, it's a 115a alt. so is the 100a fuse ok or should I look for a 120a or something?

the 100 fuse should be ok, i would do 120 to be safe. you want a fuse rating that is close to the output of the alt. the job of the fuse is to protect the wire and so that eletrical components don't fry up. If your fuse is either way too small or way too big, then the fuse does the wire no good.

k, now I gotta go try and find anl fuses and fuse holders in this hick town I'm in. had maxi fuses in there and can't find anything bigger than 100a fuses for it

yea, anl is best for high fuse rating.

true but I'm also running the amp at only 2 ohms for now. But within the next week I'll be runnin it at 1 ohm and I think I would blow the fuses tryin to run the amp at 1 ohm
