curious q?

actually no i dont but it just came in my head today and i've just been wondering because i've never had a problem with road noise but now i know it can be the ground to for future reference thanks

1st, you need to wait more than 30 minutes to bump a thread.

2nd,

ui know you can get road noise from running rca with or close to power
Myth

but is it the same with the ground too ??
Think about this for a second.

The vehicle's chassis is typically used as a source for returning ground to the battery. If you were to isolate the signal wire from the ground plane, this would inherently mean you would have to isolate it from the vehicle's chassis aswell.....which means you would need to suspend the cables inside the vehicle.

i dont think squeekys ever been in the install bay, iv seen some wild cases of noise. including large power cables ran with sensitive cables.

and grounds are also a major source of noise from what iv seen

sorry about the bump thing and thanks for the info i didnt look at it that way i just though maybe the carpet would be in the way of it being close to ground but you put it in a good way

Do I install for a living? No, and never have the desire to so.

I've installed a few systems though, many of which directly violate many of the rules installers live by without any consequences.

Likewise; I've yet to have an installer who claims having an RCA near a power wire caused noise (for example) ever be able to actually prove that statement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Most of the time there are factors that they did not take into consideration which would have affected the outcome.......

i've seen the rca being close to the power wire whine squeak what could be other factors to cause this?
Dozens.

The RCA's could have been routed near a noisy component such as the fuel pump, could have been routed near a "noisy" location on the vehicle's chassis, could have been routed near a noisy component up near the dash, etc etc.
