I am glad to hear I am not the only cranky old fart. My initial knee jerk was going to be trolling and pissing everyone off in the 10k thread, but then I quickly realized that would only help him. I am admittedly powerless atm.

Because they payoff would take too much time and there are already too many lawyers as (from anecodatal evidence...in reality, I have no clue). ADR would be an alternative path that is more quickly achieved and could produce a payoff much faster.

But I am questioning all I know about ADR....wsw has better answers.

The other day when you were questioning me because of my vagueness, you made it sound as if competition was irrelevant. You just need to know and be the best in your field. At least that is how I took your speech. It was a nice romantic notion.

I do know what you are saying though. I also realize that it is the most over glorified profession. Many people think all Lawyers make money. The median is a lot lower then what most people would think. The cost to get there is great, and the payoff is slow.

What you have just posted is my only reason for having questions at all.

Well your instinct was right on, it's a great career. You just had no way of knowing what it takes for people to actually use you.

In this state, there are a handful of people who get the lion's share of the business and they are always booked months in advance.

Ironically, I don't really care for the firm (two people) that is at the very top of the food chain. There is another guy, a former judge, who I really like. He has the credentials to get respect from anyone in the room (the clients are assured by the fact that they have a "real" judge.) But the reason that I like him is that he has great people skills. He is not going to say something stupid, and even if he did he is smooth enough to fix it. He makes each side feel like he is their best buddy. In short, he is a sociopath.
