If anything, I'd go for Nurse Practitioner. Honestly I just don't want to be a doctor.

It's complicated, but I'd rather know patients on a more personal level than doctors do.

It makes sense. However the common wisdom is that its best not to have any attachment to the vi.. patients. However, it depends completely on the type of medicine you get involved with. The field is vast, as you know.
