Detroit has very affluent suburbs. The fact you lump that all into being Detroit is appalling. I spent a good week in Chicago and I can't believe you would talk shit about Detroit. yes it's cleaner, but the roaming gangs really makes it lose it's appeal.

The one section of chicago you were at is not ALL OF chicago. Detroit I have no doubt has similar problem areas. Even our gangs have better class.

and watching the movie 8 Mile is not all of Detroit. Of the 25 largest cities, Detroit was near the bottom in gang related crime.

I wrote a 10 page paper but some quick things are 65-70% of the murders are drug related and not random, Detroit is the largest city on the Canadian border so there is a lot of trafficking going through Detroit which happens to any city with an international border, poverty has forced people to go to drugs and ************ for money, downtown Detroit is one of the safest areas in the country with crime rates well below national average, the city has hosted numerous national events (all-star game, superbowl, auto show, world series, NBA finals, 3 championship parades, etc) with no incident of crime.
