What is this shit really? Is it a plant like the mary jane?

It is a plant just like marijuana. Natural and safe. I've never read about any deaths related to it and there are no reported incidents of "flashbacks" like there are with acid and bad shroom trips.

The reason that it is sold in extracts is because the plant, in it's unaltered concentration, is not strong enough to cause the hallucinations that people seek to obtain. Thus, people grind it up and extract the substance that causes the hallucinations.

What is the name of the plant? Does it have something like THC in it that effects the brain or something?
I'm asking because I've honestly never heard of this stuff before, and if it is a plant, I doubt it is something new....

Salvia Divinorum is the name of the plant. It's legal to grow in most states. Even if it isn't, it's not hard to obtain the plant and grow it anyways. It's a small shrub with hardly ANY defining characteristics. With that being pointed out, you can make the extract yourself. I can find a link if you want me to.

Lastly, I've haven't tried salvia myself yet, but I do believe in being educated before doing something.
