WSW- Many 2 channels have an A/B option that works for you as a zone 2.
The issue is, do you want it playing in both the living room and the patio or just one location at a time?
I think it would be somewhat rare for me to want both sets running at the same time. About the only time I know I would that would happen would be when I am going in and out of the house while grilling.

It's one of those things that when you first think about it you think that you would have them both running while entertaining. However, in reality what happens at parties is that the women end up inside and the men end up on the patio. As the night goes on, the women end up wanting to turn the music down (or off) as the men want to crank it louder.

FWIW, those speakers I got from av123 are very nice. They are thin, so not very obtrustive. They are deep though. But since they are front ported, they can be placed close to the back wall (min. of 3"). I think you can get a pair of the towers for $299 or 399 shipped. However, a sub would be necessary. I'd probably still suggest those Infinities you have been looking at.
I have been reading about the Infinity Primus line on Stereophile, and they are definitely the budget forum boner over there. The story that is told is that Infinity really wanted to go after a certain price point and put their best engineer on the task. Supposedly some members over there talked to people in the R & D department and the Primus line was recommended over their more expensive line. They were talking about them as a bargain at $600 and now they are $400.

The catch is going to be whether my wife raises hell about the concept of a couple of big black speakers in the living room. I can't really say that she doesn't have a point, she has spent a lot of time getting the furniture she wants for that room. I may have to figure in the aesthetics of the cabinet in my decision, even if it means paying more.

I will try to see what I can find out about the zone 2 capabilities of the receiver.

Well, here's the deal.
I *think* mine can play different sources on zone 1 / zone 2. So if the ladies want to listen to Michael Bolton or some shit, they can (at low volumes) while you crank some better stuff outside.

I can look at the owner's manual to see if Z2 can play at different volumes. I *think* it can play different sources. I believe you will need to look at Denon/Marantz for this capability.
Yes, this is the point of Zones as opposed to A/B solutions. Zones can be pretty independent as far as source and volume.

The hell she does.

Well, it's the best shop in my town I hear.
Doing legal limit in the front and 20% in the back. I think the front legal limit is 35%. I could go elsewhere and get 20% all the way around, but I'd rather not fool with the law.
You sure the front limit is 35% ?

My brought bought a 2005 Eclipse in Memphis a few months back and it had a lot darker tint than that on the front and it was supposedly legal. He brought it back here and had to get it changed to 32.5%.
