Get the deposit next Friday...which is also payday. I have never had a bank account with $10k. Investments...sure. But not cash where I could withdrawl it all and make an avatar of "Flip" using stacks of $100 bills.

Hell, I keep over $20K sitting in my savings account at all times. I was always told that your savings account should have at a minimum 3x your monthly salary just 'in case'. Up until last April/June 3x my monthly fixed expenses was $150. I didn't have any bills but a cell phone...so all my cash went into investments. When I bought my cars, I paid cash. I got a loan for my truck...0 down, $200 every two weeks. I think the interest rate was 5.5%.

Now that I have more expenses/obligations, my savings rate has increased now that I got most of the things associated with home ownership out of the way.
