So the guy came today and bumped me down to 'basic' cable by putting a 'filter' on the line which looked like something that could easily be taken right off.
I am going to have to check it out when everyone is gone from the building during the day to not arouse suspicion.

Also cable company says on TV ALL cable customers need not to worry about HD conversions but I think they mean customers with a box because I only get about 10 standard def channels now.
Interestings. I see no such filter.

I get about 10 HD channels.

Cannot add that pic to my sig. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
You will need mod assistance. Can't have this picture in addition to your current sig without powers. Powers which you rightfully should have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I guess it depends on why you only get 10. Is that because of your plan or your TV.

My understanding is that if you get cable you have no worries.

I have my confusions about that tax thread. Either I am limited in my understanding of what is and isn't deductible, or these people are committing fraud.

WHen I went through it one year, I didn't see where you can claim deduction for driving back and forth to work.

For most people, to and from work can't be deducted. If you are self employed then it is. Also any travel for the company on their time can be claimed.

Also driving between one job to another can be deductible.

Basically though if your are not self employed then it generally isn't worth the hassle of documenting the mileage in a log book. You simply can't deduct any mileage going from home to your regular work facility or from it to home. Only a deviation of regular work facility or otherwise variable condition.

So yes they are committing fraud if they don't meet these conditions.

I generally don't get into those discussions with the masses because for one I am not a tax expert and 2 everyone will just say I am wrong. They have been doing their own taxes for years and know whats what so meh.

Gotcha...

I have a job where I get reimbursed for any travel on company time, to another destination, etc.

I assume this is like most topics on the forum...

everyone is so much bigger, badder, faster, and richer than CT.

Even though I have mortgage interest, it still isn't enough. Hell, I bet some of these folks paid more in interest on their car than I did my house. I paid ~$2.5k in interest payments.
