So I take my check to the bank to get deposited into my checking account. I tell the Asian lady to deposit it, she looks at me and say "OK I cash check for you." I didn't want to hold up the line any more so I left. I now have $968.38 in my wallet.

Why not direct deposit? Or is that unavailable?

I love the govt's site about my check...I can do everything online...up to 9 allotments, purchase savings bonds, etc. It is very nice.

My check is sliced and diced before I get it...First thing that goes out is my mortgage...
