This was a part I felt I had some trouble with. I want to convey that I have a fair bit of unix/linux experience, I don't know if this was the right way to get it accross however....

• Installed and used the following Linux and Unix Operating Systems:

1. Fedora

2. SuSE

3. Slackware

4. Debian

5. Ubuntu

6. Knoppix

7. HP-AIX

8. Solaris

9. FREEBSD

10. PC-BSD

Do the support models have names people in the field would have familiarity or are they proprietary?
Not particularly no. It was more of an organizational change. However, I could reference the helpdesk software we were using instead. From Bridgetrak to Remedy.

Well, that will compound the gap between 12/07 and 4/08.
However, you could say you were a stay at home dad or something, freelance work, tried running your own operation?
Hmm...stay at home dad while I became current with new trends in technology? A nice way of saying I jerked off and browsed slashdot...

I would do this only if common. If that doesn't mean shit to most HR people (the ones reading the resume) then it don't mean shit.
Yeah, those two are pretty common helpdesk solutions in the it field today. The HR people *may* not pick up on it, but an it hiring manager probably would.

I have modified bullet point # 4, tell me if this is closer to what you would expect to see.

• Assisted in a smooth network transition for a 400 + user call center by providing support for the installation of 4 Cicsco 6500 Switches and multiple fiber runs during the GTE/Bell Atlantic merger.

The resume is supposed to get you an interview, the interview gets you the job. So when thinking over, do I want to interview this person?
Here, I would say No. WHat do I have to gain by interviewing? I already know enough about you.

Without the interview, you are unable to convey the "soft skills" needed in getting a job. You got to have a resume that piques thier interest and wants them to see you. A good example is craigslist personal ads, which are you more likely to reply, the ones that tell everything or the ones that strike your interest?
That makes a lot of sense, I want to entice them to dig a little deeper, and to do so, they would need to get me into the interview. Barring whats already been mentioned so far, do you feel that there is a way for me to simplify my work experience further, but not to a point where I leave out some of the more major selling points, like windows/unix server experience? I could modify it further by providing either a windows specific or unix specific resume, expounding on one set of skills more than the other as needed.

Thanks for the help, by the way, not trying to get anyone to write one of these for me. but it's always nice to have a few more pairs of eyes! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I put 'Advanced Linux/UNIX system administration experience including LAMP' on my resume if I am looking for a typical IT job for a helpdesk, windows sysadmin etc. If I were looging for *nix work I would go more into detail.
This lets them know you have good experience and if they need any further information they can ask you.

I would also have several version, for example a version for *nix work, retail IT, corporate IT, Helpdesk Tech etc. Just adjust them to the type of job you are looking for.

I have not applied for a job in 8 years but I will see if I can dig mine up somewhere, I did redo them about two years ago when there was talk of them shutting down our location.
That would certainly be appreciated! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well, at work I can open one program in one screen and another program in another screen.
Are you talking about this
