My shrug has always been unproportionately higher than everything else for some reason, even when I first started working out.
I've got some pretty massive hips and thighs too. I can do the full stack of the hip adductor and abductor at the gym.
The problem with squats for me is that the higher weight loads start crushing my right shoulder, which has some problems. It also keeps me from being able to do high loads on the flat bench and press.
