if so, run the repair when booting on the windows disk, type chkdsk.

When I boot from disk, it says it cannot complete due to something with the hard disk. I ran the chkdsk, but it seems to freeze up. I don't know why, but I cannot get online with the laptop and I have no audio anymore. The volume thing in the system tray is gone. When I turn it on, my background will appear and nothing else. It takes like 5 minutes to load the taskbar.

Gold is a worthless investment IMO. It is an arbitrary standard. Perhaps water or timber if I wanted to be safe.

hey Shaun you HD more than likely has a corrupt block. You probably need to partition it.

That's a good bet. If it has some bad blocks then more will follow. From your usage it seems like you need more space than that anyway.

Was the laptop dropped? Do you hear a certain repeated noise while its loading everything? Like a noise that has a pattern to it?

It's a laptop. How do I do this partition? Is it somewhere in the BIOS screen?
