ok, here's the run-down.
i opt for showing up late so i could attend the USM vs. MSU baseball game. arriving at the bar later in the night is the best way to do this, as sober people dont really appreciate my style.
i show up around 10pm. the wife and her entourage have been there since 7. (this throws a kink in the gray-eyed girl scheme, but she never showed up anyway, so i dodged that) as soon as i walk in the door, this woman, who i have no idea who she is, grabs my arm and says "were so glad youre finally here! weve missed you!!" im thinking, ok, thats kinda cool. i get about 3 more steps into the door and this other woman sees me and asks me if im gonna sing. i tell her sure. she says she had to leave early last week and didnt get to hear me. i move on, trying to get to the bar and get a beer, when my wifes table sees me. about 12 people stand up and start yelling my name. the karaoke guy, is in between songs and he starts yelling at me to come on up and sing. i dont want to skip anybody, so i decline and get my beer. then i head up to put my name on the list. its already on there. i sit down and everybody starts asking what im gonna sing. i tell them a song ive never done before. then the requests start flooding in. everybody wants vanilla ice. (its true, i am absolutely bad-*** at this song, and it has been about 3 weeks since ive done it) after about 4 songs my name is called and i hit the mob with some House of Pain. i had a few people jumping around, but it wasnt up to my crowd-pleasing standards, so i was a little disappointed. i blame the karaoke guy, cause the version he had was a little soft. there was a group of people in the back who i had never seen before, that was completely mesmerized by the preformance. the blonde that has hit on my for the past several weeks said she loved it, but thats standard. about an hour of country music goes by, and im up again. as the music starts and everybody realizes what song it is, its like a stampede to the 3 feet of floor space in front of me. YO, VIP. LETS KICK IT! like 20 people are already dancing in front of me, which is about all that can fit. i get through the first verse and there are so many people up dancing that i just start walking around the bar with the mic, not even looking at the words. theyre just flowin. i get another dance party started up in the back of the bar. maybe 10 more people. that song is just a killer. song ends and i finish my beer and head to the restroom. one of the new ladies stops me and tells me how she just say some show on VH1 about vanilla ice, and that i do that song way better than he does. i tell her shes full of it, but thanks. thats about it. only 2 songs since i showed up late. i did like the late entrance though.
last night won a little over $100 at the poker table.
