10 rooms, gah
Actually pretty cheap.....

Some houses around here are in teh 2 digit millionz..
Its not very big at all but it is a really neat house. The handball court is cool.

He lives relatively modest and drives a Grand marquis.

I just thought I would share it since I was researching the other day and came across it.

But yes in Cali it would be ridiculous priced.

Yep its public information. But not all counties are available online.

http://www.netronline.com The county assessor's office is where I got this information.

or you can tell me the county and I can try and find it.

Ive been to Buffet's house so I knew what I was looking for. Blindly looking without parcels/owner's name can be a little more time consuming but still possible.

I am curious about how much the difference between tax assessed value and appraised value? Is there a rule of thumb, perhaps?
It depends entirely on the county but is public information if you call them.

Also it depends on how long it has been since it was reassessed by the county. My fathers house was just reappraised this year and it went up over 80k.

A general rule of thumb is assessed value is 90% of appraisal but again not always.

Interesting....

Everything seems to be tax year 2007. What I find odd is that these properties are selling for higher than "Total Market Value"....I look at my parent's house and there is no way they could get that much.
2008 taxes probably have not been calculated yet. But that is the treasurer that does that. Like I said assessed values to market value can vary greatly even in the same county since they only reassess so many properties per year.

If you give me some links to properties I may be able to help a little.

Specifically, this total market appraisal...
What does it miss that a bank may account for, etc.
Totally depends. The county uses different methodology than an appraiser would.

This property is odd.

It sold twice is 2006, once for $104k and again for $96k.

Now it is for sale for $125k.

Doesn't seem like my kind of deal....
They are most likely trying to turn a profit meaning they could have done some updating or are just trying to make a quick buck. Regardless it looks like there is room for negotiation.
