YES!!! getting divorced and the girl takes half is not a good idea. My rule of thumb is know someone for 5 years and live with them for at least 3 before getting married. That way you truly know the other person and wont have as many surprises.

From my understanding, people change after getting married.
And I hope to only get married once.
People don't change after marriage. They see more of each other and are hit with more of the day to day nuances while living together. Most decide to get married then maybe live together daily in a mutual domicile for a little while before getting married. As stated spend more than a year living together with shared expenditures, housing, etc. This is how you get to know someone.

People who say their spouse changed after marriage didn't spend enough time living together and getting to know each other. It's a horse shit of a myth.

So we are progressing in a way that is normal?
Absolutely.

It's just the way you present it to me and your safeguards during it that throw me off. Then again normal is relative. If you were to ask this 30 years or more ago the answer would probably be no and that people should wed before living together. They were idiots back then IMO.

To put it in YOUR words. It is a really BIG investment, so proceeding with extreme caution is advised and encouraged. LOL I can't believe I worded it that way. It makes me crack up even when I put it that way.

I think as long as their agreement on the saltwater fish is reduced to writing then all will be well.

(Sorry flip, I can't help it).

It is.
I am not a big fan of jumping into things I cannot easily jump out of.

But I think some of the ideas listed here will seem more fair to her.

A asked a co-worker and she said "What if she busted up your house, etc"...I replied, I hope that I am better at picking them...
You should have said that is what the damage deposit is for.

I don't see a need for agreement with this fish tank. I'll give advice as I see fit and let her do what she wants, it's for her enjoyment.

For instance, there is a lightbulb that runs $100 and allows you to grow a variety of species...then there's a $200 that looks better and allows you to grow everything.

From my car audio experience, I suggested go ahead and getting the $200 one now. She wants to upgrade because she doesn't know. But I am thinking people always want to upgrade....plus I try to find good deals and learn about what she's interested in to carry on an intelligent conversation.
You are definitely correct in buying the more expensive bulb now. Unless of course you will need to buy a larger one for a larger tank. That is one thing I can almost guarantee will be the first major upgrade. Unless you are starting with 100+ gallons which I doubt.

Salt water is awesome and not too bad on care once you get started. Its the first couple months that ****. What size tank are you going with and what would you think about going larger?

NOW THIS IS THE GOOD STUFF.
This shows progression without the Flipesque.

BRAVO!

Clownfish are cliche.
I like the hawkfish though...it's kinda neat.

DAMMIT! I forgot the WSW parenthesis.

(this is where you tell me you aren't getting clowns).
