That would work out equally as well.
I assume we would have to develop a contract stating that in the event of separation, either party would pay the other party half the equity in the home. Or we can sell and split the proceeds.

Small things like telephone/water/etc will just be cut off.

We will just have to divide joint purchases up...most of the items I wouldn't want anyway.
Yeah, you could probably have a lawyer draw up a contract to that effect. You could even specify how the value of the home is to be determined.

Of course, if either of you were to have judgments while you won the property those would attach to the property. Probably not a big concern.

You may want to check and see if there is a state transfer tax that would apply in the event one transferred his/her interest. I don't think there is one in TN, but I could be wrong.

Thinking like yours is why people I know kill themselves after their wives leave them and they lose everything because they didn't consider the risks. The gf understands these risks as well. She doesn't want for me to be able to leave her high and dry with all the bills either. She pays $40 a month for a cell phone line for her ex. He can't use the phone or the line, but she still has to pay. She learned about having to pay for a mistake in a relationship. She thought she was going to marry the guy, but problems ensued and they called it off. And she can't just not pay because it would ruin her credit.

Now that may work...but I suppose if we broke up, I would just buy her out I guess.
They kill themselves because they are weak and pathetic. Material losses will never in my life get me to any point where I can't function like a normal rational god **** human being. Neither will losing a woman.

It's thinking like yours that increases divorce rates.

I know....
I thought I was being more sociable this time around though...

She wants to jump in without knowing the rules/laws, I want to take a more gradual approach. I don't see anything wrong with that. If I have no problem spending untold sums on helping her get this salt water fish tank started, I obviously am commited to this relationship regardless of how much this may cost me.
