My biggest thing is figuring out how to best seal/deaden those doors. I wish had pics, but I probably will not until at least Wednesday. Anyway, I still don't know what the best way is to seal off the larger holes. Hard to believe there is no consensus of what is the best material to use. Plexiglass sounds expensive, hard to locate and not easy to cut. Sheet metal -- maybe -- but I don't have anything to cut that shit with. I saw on Rammat's site where they said that screen works --but I don't know. It sounds like it might have too much give to it -- but maybe not if you applied mat to each side.

joking right? you have to be black 90% of the time to get a job there though.
All our mail carriers are white? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Hell my cousin is a mail carrier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Something don't seem right about the ad I posted.

Oh, so I was at my friends house right. And for some reason I never noticed this door leading to the garage was clear, usually i think there is a shade and thought nothing of it. Well I look out there, and you can obviously see there are two cars. I noticed the first one was a mustang. So I said "hey, theres a mustang in your garage? " he said yeah, youve never noticed it before? I

Is covered up with blankets but you can tell what it was. I said "nah whats the other car?"

"I think its a charger? or challenger?" I was like what? can I go look? He said yeah go ahead. Sure enough it was a challenger. Red with black racing stripes. Dont know the exact year, but it was in perfect condition. Ill have to get some pics next time. He said its been sitting there for a year. Him and his girl rent from his girl's brother, the cars arehis and he never drives them. Wild what people have sitting in their garages.

The Rainbows would be a good choice and shouldn't have the tweeter mounting issues of the alpines.
Yeah, that twweter is large. I saw a set at a local dealer the other day. It is certainly nice looking.

The sales guy siad we would have no problem mounting them -- must be a pretty smart guy because he did not even need to look at my sails before reaching that conclusion. All he needed to know was that I drive a 4Runner (no need for the year or anything)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif. They want $899 for the set and $100 for the install. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I asked him whether that $100 install would include mounting on MDF. He was very //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif and said they only do that when the particular install requires it. So I guess they want me to spend over 1K for them to just slap the set in.

My best friend's dad has a Charger sitting in his garage that is pretty broke down. They just pile stuff on top of it.
Tell him to sell that *****. To me. My birthday is coming up soon. Supposedly the brother works on old cars and has a whole bunch. Maybe I have finally found someone down here to work on mine. Well the major work at least.

My little brother quit working and does odd jobs/runs errands for WoW money.
heh

All installs require it...Maybe they typically mount to HPDP and wondered why you would want to mount to mdf... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
I can't believe that they either lack the experince to know this or that they just don't give a shit to that degree. I think it is both -- they don't know because they don't give a shit. Hell, I asked about so if they knew you would think that they would not want to look bad in front os someone who obviously has some reason for inquiring.

Anyway, I don't know if this is typical but my stock mounting hardware is a large piece of oblong plastic - runs about 12" from top to bottom with a raised mounting circle at the bottom of the piece. Now WTF am I going to do with that?

Sounds like the one for my s-10, which is why I has such a hard time with it.
In retrospect, I would have sanded it down rough, added a couple layers of glass and deadener. Instead, I tried to modify it to make it work, ruined it...

The process for installing my mids taught me more about car audio installation than anything else. The value of planning is undeniable.
What did you do to ruin it? And what were you trying to do? I just don't want to make the same mistakes.
