My brothers truck only caught fire once. and of course it wasnt major. yeah they usually are electrical. The one at the last show caught fire and the kid with the fire extinguisher, didnt know how to work it. So someone had to grab it from him to get the fire out. Thats the only one that got out of hand.

Okay - evidence of a decidedly unCrunk n00b...

I was looking at nitro_freak1's FS thread.

I happened to notice that he had "Kenwood 8ch amp" listed in his signature as part of his current setup.

Well, not remembering any 8ch mobile amp ever being built by Kenwood I PMed the fella to ask about it. I asked for a model number because if such a thing existed I wanted to do some research on it.

Instead he opted to send me pics of it and the amp in question is a KAC-748 ~ most assuredly not an 8ch amp.

So, when I responded I stated that I was even more confused than previously as the amp shown in the pictures was most certainly not an 8ch I get this as his most recent response

right now im runnin it as 8 ch. 4 comp's and 4 tweets into seperate channels. Not really sure.

Oh!

I finally get it!!!!

How many channels your amp is becomes dependent on how many speakers you have connected to it (going by nitro_freak's logic) so if I connect a second sub or more to my D6 monoblock will it become one of the multichannel monoblocks that Famous_78 was talking about in my signature quote?!?

duh

Under that logic, what happens when you bridge?
A 4 channel becomes a 2?
Again - it will be dependent on how many separate drivers are connected.

Let's say you have four 8 Ohm SVC drivers.

You connect a pair of them in parallel and then drive them with the bridged mono output on the amp. Do likewise with the other pair.

There's four speakers being driven so it's still a 4ch amp.

It doesn't matter at all (assuming nitro_freak's logic here, mind you...) how many channels of output the amp actually has ~ only how many various drivers are connected to it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
