I'm fixing to be involved in a trade - amp for components.

I want to make a thread detailing the process between myself and my trading partner step-by-step.

Same problem installing these mids...
I have said back to square one atleast a dozen times.

Problem lies with the door pods. I cut out a hole in the door panel and made a ring (because the way the basket is made, it won't drop in). The way the OEM door pod is made, it is different on each side. This causes the ring to stick out differently....and thus look like crap.

The new route is to buy new door panels and maybe make a thin ring....thing enough to allow the ring to mount to the pod, but thick enough to gain clearance for the basket. Or get a different set of mids.

That sucks. I hope mine goes smoother. I hope to do that this weekend.

Because I have entered into a trade agreement with another member - one of the 4ch amps I have been trying to sell swapped evenly for a set of Polk Momo 5.25" components.

As the other member is a relative unknown to me (though he did provide me with positive references from this forum as well as SoundDomain) I wanted a public record of what is transpiring between myself and him so there's no waffling about the details later in case something goes wrong.

Basically it was a CYA move (cover your ass)

Gonna put 'em in the Bronco for awhile and see if I like the way they sound in there.

All I need is a HU. I've got comps for the front, an amp to power those, a set of decent 10s, and very shortly I should have appropriate amplification for those as well.

All that leaves is a HU - maybe I'll buy that KDC-X679 for $115 out of the classifieds...that's a deck I'm real familiar with since I used to own one.

That would make a pretty decent system for what I would have invested in it:

HU ~ $115

Comps + comp amp ~ $105.10

Subs ~ $115 is what I paid for them forever ago when I 1st bought them

Sub enclosure ~ $85

Sub amp ~ $95 (600w @ 2 Ohms)

That comes to a grand total of $515.10

We'll go ahead and factor in another $84.90 for wiring and such, though I already have all that I will need in my Box 'O Junk, so call it a $600 setup.

Not terrible money for what I would have going, eh?
