man my girl wants to get married but shes on it hardcore. I want to wait at least until i get out of college, im 22 now but ive been taken school slow, but i will hopefully pick it up when i go to a university hopefully if that plays out well. I can commit to her now but i want to wait at least 2 more years, shes a great girl and i wouldnt mind spending the rest of my life wit her but ive got to be on solid grounds before i get married and extend my family

Wow! I can help with this. I think your right for wanting to wait a bit. If you think she is the one, get engaged, you really don't need a ring. She wants to hear your going to be there for her. If she HAS to have a ring, then she isn't the one. I will say now that I've gotten a bit older (25) and I just got engaged in August that you are never going to be in the "place" that you feel is right. Sometimes you have to jump in head first. Its like kids. They say you are never ready but people wait forever if they can. Sometimes they wait too long and can't have them.

Same here. Maybe you aren't ready...but if you dont' jump in and at least commit, you may not get the chance again.

well im willing to commit to engagement, shes great i already have a kid and she loves him like its hers. But shes great though. But im jus going to have to lay down the man hand and tell her we going to have to wait a bit for marriage, but my heart is perfectly fine with her. Weve been together for like 3 yrs and she jus doesnt want to wait much longer, i want to save money and be able to provide for my family and i cant do that on UPS salary, which is why im in school. I just get so fustrated when talking to her about it. But i got to step up and tell her like it is

*nod* I see your point. I would just try to explain that although your saying not yet, that its not "no" because when you say not yet...she may hear never. Girls are odd, even if you live with them...for some reason marriage makes it totally different in their minds. Like a force field has been created that makes the whole relationship that much better.

She sounds great though, especially if she is good with your kid.

When is that? When I was making around 30k I said that...then got a raise to 50k and still didn't feel ready. I finally just did it. I think we change our lifestyle and its never really a stability issue. I mean now that I make more I just buy more LOL....just like kids. I told my girl that when I was at 65-70k we could have kids...but my buddy makes 38k and has 2 kids and he is ok.

i totally agree with both of your statements, and my girl totally feels that marriage is the ultimate goal, they forget about our responsibilities as responsible men we are. i guess i look at it diffrently and ive tried to explain to her. I have goals of my own and want to meet them, but the only way is to finish school and get a good job or start my business. But my mom jus got done talking to her im not a mamas boy but my mom feels the same way i do about the situation

thats great and i hope it works out that well for me. this perdicament is just risen my maturity level i think. ha ha. But on a serious note im glad u guys can help me instead of some of these useless 06ers'
