Crunch GP3000d pro, or Atomic 3000.1

For what it's worth, my Sundown 3K now drops to 13.0-13.3 at full tilt. Then it'll stay at 13ish for a long while before hitting 12.9, I'm not sure why.

Main reason I'm recommending the Atomic over the GP3k is because of the MOSFET mounting. 180 degree mounting is superior to 90 degree mounting, that's been said by quite a few people in the past and the main reason Chris at dB-r doesn't like these amps.

But honestly, for the price, they are hard to beat. Only other thing I'd put in it's league in that price range is the Audiopipe.

Well wasn't that, voltage stayed up. My amp was just ****ed, lol.
Oh, and ohm load was 1.2, not 1.4.

Oh, and my stock alt is either 90A or 110A. Don't recall as I had to get a new one put in about 2 years. Can't remember if I did the 90A or 110A.. I had the choice though, but don't really remember. I'll check it some day. But, in the mean time, I'm just going for broke and assuming it's 90.
about the gp3000pro's getting ****ed, they seem very suseptible to vibration failure, the way the fets are positioned on the board and everthing, cuz my first one blew twice and maxxsonics fixed it both times and the tech said these boards seem prone to failing from vibrations on the board, thats the only thing wrong with the gp3000

I edited my post before you posted and actually mentioned the 90 degree fet mounting. And yeah, it's vibration that ****s it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

yup and thats the only prob with them.

lots of big boards are mounted with the fets up, but the gp3000 really likes to die from vibrations lol

Yeah, I think it likely has to do with bad QC and cheaping out on factory labor. But I don't know who their factory is, but I believe it's in korea. Korean factories tend to not like putting their clients out there though. My father does import/manufacturing for a living, and I do it over the summers sometimes so I do know a bit about that in case some of you just think I'm speaking out of my ***. We deal with a lot of Chinese factories, mainly Ningbo and the likes. But it's hard to get amplifier factories to give out their clientele :p.

Anyways, I'm off to work.

My pick is the Atomic if you have the money, just as I stated earlier.

Have a great day guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif!

Eh 90 deg mounting isn't all that bad if you know how to stop the breaking. There is excessive play between the board and heat sink groove. I use a small dab of anchor tight marine grade epoxy between key points between the board and the heat sink along the edges. this keeps the excessive play from causing an oscillation during heavy vibration, thus taking the strain off the fets. Keep the amp off the box and you will be fine. One of the best amps I have ever owned was an IA40.1 which uses the same mounting and is heavier, great amp... I thought I saw a pic of the GP pro a while back and it looked like a Zenon board could someone throw up a pic?

Polo.

FYI i know the issue you are thinking of and trust me on this when I say it, the Zenon looks like the gp, they are made very very very very close to each other. crack open some of the new xxv models and Zenon models and you will see it again. they are not made by the same designers and I have it on good authority that Zenon "borrowed" a few things from some of the Maxxsonics amps.

this is a pic of the new design:

Now which amp is that, the GP ? Looks to be pretty darn close to a Zenon board to me from what I can see of the driver board it is indeed a 3S-TEC board. Unless it is a zenon clone made by Korean which i highly doubt. That amp is definately Korean made... Polo.

Just like any other fine Korean amp and that is only thing that made that amp good. I would like to try one... Polo..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
