Crossovers?

Yeah I am hooking up a component system and was wondering if you get a lot more power out of the crossovers and speakers if you hook the crossovers to an amp instead of to your head unit? because I will need to get a low power amp to run them if it will. Cause right now I am running a 93 volvo 850glt. kinda a ***** car but bumps like nothing else. I have 2 audiobahn 12"Audiobahn AW1200Q's in a ported bandpass box, powered by a Audiobahn A2300HCT 2400watt max power amp. and the component system I am putting in is a alpine 6.5 with tweeters.

K thanks man I am gonna get like a small 200 watt amp to hook them to so It shuold bump hard and be loud.
