Crisp 2 way

What are some crisp sounding 6.5s and 1 inch tweeters? Can be component or not. I have an alpine h660 DSP to run active with. For power will be a PPI 900.4 I currently have hertz esk 165.5 I'll probably sell to buy the new set so say 150-200 is the price range. The Hertz just sound really plain to me I guess is the best way to put it.

PXE-H660 is mainly for adding equipment to a factory sound system, plus it's quite old. Do you have it installed and fully configured now with these speakers you don't care for?

I do have it installed. And there is not an aftermarket dash kit for car yet so I'm stuck with stock head unit. I bought the alpine fairly cheap used. I choose it because it is suppose to work well with factory units.

I have the 10ish year old hertz high energy 6.5 and tweets that I have been running off of 200watts times 4 for about 4 years. I'm very happy with them.
They sound good. There sound signature isn't my personal taste I guess. They get loud though.

Mess with your eq, time alignment and crossovers. Independent L and R tuning adjustments to the EQ it out. Go active crossover as well
There already tuned pretty well. Not that they sound bad they just lack that crisp sound signature I personally like.

I'll look into them thanks.

i dont know your budget but for the money those are good sets.. if you have the cash id go wit the focal polyKevlars
Depends on how much I can get for the Hertz and how much change I have left. Btw my hertz are ran active no crossovers.

i wasn't very fond of the hertz sets. they weren't bad but i've heard many sets half the price sound better. The mille was kick *** though it was up there with the CDT ES line and dynaudio and morel sets.

which set you have?

Raise 16khz 12.5khz and 8khz. Youll also want to mount them on axis or you lose a lot of upper frequencies. Those speakers can do whatever you want them to, just need to know how to do a proper SQ tune and install.

Or just change the tweeter in your set.

Maybe it was the install but I just didnt care for them. Im sure they are a capable set. Might be worth tweaking. I found the tweeter efficient but lacked detail. Could have been some refraction.

I can say that they didn't strike me as crisp. I found the tweeters somewhat dark.in the lower octaves but sharp up top . I did like the mid though pretty neural.

Op how would you describe them?

The mids are good the tweeter is what lacking so I'll probably just look into some new tweeters any recommendations. I do have them off axis I did try them on axis they sound better but not enough for me to fiberglass my a pillars to put them on axis.
