the key word is your "application" i very much doubt that those same lvl4xl would survive a song . . in the setup that just ran these two HW's . .

do you have experience with both subs? oh wait i do and alot of the test songs where 3 6 mafia and young jeezy. the end song was 369 off the step up 2 cd. non stop 47hz bass notes.

ps the dc was .8 louder off a 30 sec avg. 1-12" and 6k of power

Considering the lvl4xl's have the lvl5 coils in them, and since I've seen lvl5's take 6kw each on a daily basis...I'd dare to say they would hold up fine, thermally.

Sundown, DD, RD, DC, Atomic, Cactus, etc. are all great at being loud and reliable...and their amps(if applicable) are great as well. To say that one is inherently better than the other is pretty foolish...we all know install is key.
