Resonating Reticular
I have a hand-me-down guitar amp board from a really crappy Crate amp that my brother got with his first guitar back in '01. The speaker was impaled during a move, and stopped working. I replaced it with a crappy Pioneer Coaxial... and it plays... but every now and then after a while of playing, it'll get really distorted and let's say the frequency is 5K, it'll sound like it's doing 10K. It's hard to explain because it doesn't make any sense... point is, I don't know if it's the amp, or me trying to use a full-range speaker as a guitar speaker. I don't know if the coil is built any differently, or the spider / cone is any different, and it's just speaker fatigue or something of the sort. I also used a stock "PREMIUM" Ford speaker out of my car that I had laying around... it did the same thing, but I think it took longer to start.
Any insight?
