First of all, people HAVE fallen from those kinds of heights before and lived. Not very common, but it is possible.

Second, if you actually paid attention to the first movie, you would have noticed that after he fell, the camera focused on his face for a few seconds, he blinked, and then you hear two faint heartbeats as the screen goes black before the credits start rollling.

the movie isn't about making sense or having a good plot. It's about one ridiculous action scene after another.
It's absolutely silly to assume that the director or writer of these movies intended for us to rationally believe that he survived the fall... it's just a very loose plot device in the make believe world of film.

So what you are saying is, he bounced off a couple skyscrappers, got run of by an UPS truck (Which just screwed everyones mail all up) then the monster from Cloverfield ate him and shit him out and he got up and said, I need me a fawking energy drink...........
