Craigzter's sdc2.5 15" Recone(Project Hitter)

if you must use a the screws i suggest a pair of needle nose pliers and a really long L-shaped allen driver, you can roll the surround back from the top and get the screws from the top... barely

Yeap, its been put to the side for now but being that this thread was made Ill probably go ahead and finish up the recone .. I love these subs :) so this will probably go in the girls ride for the bass comp this upcoming spring . Keep it around for awhile

sounds good man, glad I could inspire you to get yo *** up and finish it:D

lol, dont feel bad man, mines been sitting around for prolly 2.5 months or better. Was trying to sell it, but decide eh what the hell..might as well just recone it and use it.

But stick around as I'm sure this could get interesting at times.

moar pics are coming soon!!

This is just my method, but I dont grind down anything when taking off the old glue.

I do however, use two methods (depending on how I feel like doing it)

1. Cyanoacrylate de-bonder and then I just chisel the old glue off. It comes off pretty easy, I can clean a spider landing in under 5 min with this method.

2. Gel based paint stripper. This takes longer, but if you're not in a hurry its just fine. You just paint the stripper on the spider and basket landings and let them sit for about 2 hours. This turns the ca glue into a gelly mess, which can then be washed off with a water hose since its water soluable.

just my method, doesnt mean im right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

nice snoop, never thought of the second way. I do however have laquer thinner in the shed. BUT I went ahead and used my dremel tool and the softer wire brushes and got the excess glue and whatnot off..

now as far as color of paint, anyone got any suggestions on the basket color?

Ive always considered taking it to an X-Liner truck bed liner place and getting it sprayed...that way, it wont chip off. Just havent put together any custom subs that would be seen, so I dont even care what my baskets look like these days. My current sub basket's look pretty horrible though, but they're in my wall so no one can see em //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Im thinking about adding some white and blue flake to the already black basket...give it kind of a unique look..then again I may just leave it. But would like to do something different..

I didnt use the screws, I couldnt figure out how your supposed to align the coil and align the screw holes as well? I talked to DJ and he said just use the glue and forget the screws. Id rather have the coil aligned more than having a bunch of screws holding the spider pack in place and having the coil be out of alignment.

truf. I just got off the phone with Dj himself. He told me that china uses weak *** glue and the screws are just for reinforcement purposes. He told me to just use the glue kit and be done with it.

also, recone has been ordered and is on its way:D

Take some duct tape and a butter knife or other blunt object and go around the gap and clean it out. Works great.

Learned from SPL140.2:D Thanks Chris!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
