I believe that's the same saw I have. If so, its a good one. I dont think I paid much more than $325 new from Home Depot though. It was on sale at the time however. I say offer him $250.

found out new the saw was $579 and that was in 2002

ya man they always say that. when i found my type Rs on there i asked the guy if he was flexible on teh price he said no. 2 days later i get an email saying he will take my offer. some times money talks i would just offer and see what he says.

shit the worst he can say is no. and when he still does not have it sold for a week or two he may take your offer. u no with our economy no one is buy stuff they don't need. so im sure he might have it for a while.
