Counter-Strike

Yeah, you're definitely not going to be able to play CS Source with that computer ...
System Requirments for CS Source:

1.2 GHz processor

256 MB of RAM

DirectX 7 level or higher graphics card (Nvidia GeForce/ATI Radeon 7000 or higher)

BTW, S3 is sadly still in business ... Fortunately, they're pretty rare and mostly found in low-end notebooks ...

I know I wouldn't be able to play it. It was a gift from someone that didnt know I dont ave a decent PC.

As far as S3...F'em. I'll stray from anything with with that name.

System requirements for Counter-Strike are:
133 MHz processor

24 MB of memory

400 MB of free hard drive space

BTW, I think you're confusing bits with MB ...
LOL i feel sorry for anyone with those specs and still trying to play cs.. when i had a celeron 733 hz overclocked to a gig and 512 MB of RAM and a fx 5200 i would only get 40 fps constantly.. but playing cs with 40 fps average isnt even worth it IMO .. i could own sometimes but the graphics weren't very smooth and i could expect for it to spike often.. those spikes will get you killed in middle of gunfight.. all it takes is a quarter-second lag and your enemy could've headshotted you during that one-quarter of a second.. i upgraded to athlon 64 processor and a gig of RAM with the same video card and i got 100 frames constatly.. and 100 is the max you can get in cs 1.6 .. ownage became more consistent since it never spiked and it looked so much smoother i felt more into the game..

You think that this is worth $300? I have a bigger hard drive, cd burner, and extra PC3200 sitting around... http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=337089&pfp=browse&tabtype=ts#moreinfo

Really hard to say ... Some of those pre-built systems are decent, other ones use really cheap (bad) parts ...
Unfortunately, just from looking at the specs, I can't tell you if it's any good or not ...

Spec-wise, it's not bad ... You can do better, though ... I, personally, would not buy a P4 ... I would look into a Pentium D, Athlon64, or Athlon64 X2 system; especially the latter two if you're into gaming
I am not really into gamming.

I do like BF2, CS:source, and halo though.

My laptop is at its peak and having troubles running my work email and access databases. I want an upgrade that I can keep for as long as I have had this laptop.

Basically, it needs to run Lotus Notes(email), a large remote Access database, VPN (no biggie for the most part), and maybe a few of the games listed above.

Remember I work for CompUSA, so it will be cheaper for me to buy a built system then to make one...Although I havent looked at out parts list in ages.
