could this be overkill?

I was thinking of running two bpx1100.1 with each running one p1224. I've decided (after not liking my type r's) I'm going to go with all JBL sub section and an all Rainbow full section.

I figure it's better to have more headroom, but would it maybe be more practical to go with a GTO14001?

One of those amplifiers for the pair of p1224's is overkill and more headroom than you need.

If you want a strong, amazing sounding sub stage, look at two of the amplifiers mentioned and two of the GTI subs.

So because you understand what you type, you don't feel you should have to clarify anything? That's asinine.

What if the OP doesn't understand? You don't feel it more productive to be a little more descriptive? Yeah that's helpfull...

m2002brian, You could very well run a single sub on those amps. But you would be required to set your gain to produce the range of power required by the sub. IE: 400 watts. This would really be overkill. Why waste the available power? Those amps have no problem producing it.

A single GTO14001 would be more practical, and it would still leave you with plenty of headroom on those subs.

well i think if he had a question about anything i said he could ask. but for the most part i think ppl would understand that when i say u have to set the gains right then thats exactly what u have to do. but like i said if he needed a more descriptive answer all he would need to do is ask.

y go in to detail? i dont get how saying set ur gains right is totally confusing to where he has no clue what to do. then if he doesnt understand it then there's this awesome thing called the search button that gives u plenty of info! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Amazing at setting gains is NOT set your gains right...

As much as I'd love to go back and forth with you all day, just to see who really does get the last word:rolleyes: I'll focus my time on something else.

in theory it shouldn't be that hard to set the gains.

if V*A=W then all that should be needed is a simple multimeter, a calculator, and the amp efficiency specs.

thinking about though. It might be worth going with two GTi subs. Now I'm going to have to find a bigger alt.
