im trying to get this XXX for cheap and i was

wondering if this is a serious issue...

i guess the sub makes some sort of noise

in the lower register and the kid says that

he thinks the glue came undone on one of

the voice coils!?!?!

would a recone be the only thing that could

be done to help the situation? or does

this sound like something that could be

DIY'd for at least the time being???

Well you have to know exactly what the problem is before you buy it. Or your ganna get screwed.

you can DIY a recone if you have a little skill & alot of patience.

the idea is to buy it cheap enough so even

with the recone its still a good deal for a

practically new woofer...

Are you 100% sure it is in need of a recone. And can't just be repaired by RE.

yeah i know... but i didnt want to get a new one

for full retail since i was the one who tried to

initiate the RE group buy...

its not that i couldnt pay full retail... i could

call them right now and order the **** thing...

i just dont want to...

its like admitting my own defeat...

I've had socketed subs reconed... not a single problem. It's kind of hard to "hurt" an electromagnetic motor.

its actually local so i could see and hear it i suppose...

if someone did hook it to a light socket would that be reconable???

or does that fry the motor and the whole sh1t???

so for mine it cost me about 250-275 for a pretty much brand new XXX 15
