Could i get by with this?

you need to list a lot more information. What is the stock alts amp rating, what amp or amps do you have, what size are the batteres, what is the rest of your electrical look like etc..?

You can get by on a stock alt for awhile depending on many factors but you need more batteries than 2. Depends how loud you will play the system also and what you will actually set your gains at.

2 Sprinter S12V500F 165 ah batteries would cover you but they are hard to find and kinda expensive usually. That is a lot of stress for a stock alt also so don't expect it to last long lol.

You are better off getting a HO alt first and spend a little less on batteries.

I don't agree with this.

if you get either two really big batteries or more slightly smaller batteries, you would be fine without a h/o alt.

plenty of people i know that compete run multiple batteries and stock alts with a bunch of power and their voltage doesn't drop bad at all.

just make sure you have the battery power, multiple runs of wire, and good connections and you'll be fine.

It will work fine but you need more reserve battery power like stated and you have to worry about your stock alt with all the added stress.

Also this will be his daily driver. I'd rather do it right the first time with a HO alt, and as many batteries needed like my #11 post said.

i'd just as soon spend the extra money on batts. h/o alts are too unstable and don't really make a huge impact imo

depends which company you get it from but yeah a lot of the cheap ho alts do **** as they make crappy @ idle power even less than stock alts.

Get an Iraggi amputator series which put out high idle amps and your covered in that department. Some vehicles get a lot more at idle power than others though so the vehicle is a factor also.

I'd rather get an iraggi 300 amp HO alt that puts out 200amps+ at idle on GM, Yukon, Tahoe, Silverado etc vehicles. To each his own I guess. That is what I would do on my own vehicle then get the necessary batteries.
