Could I blow my stock speakers?

Hey guys,

I got my x-695 in and I want to try and hook it up soon, but I'm wondering if I should wire my infinity speakers to it or keep the speakers running through the "upgraded" stock infinity amp?

I don't want to blow the speakers through the HU and was told sometimes after market HU's may be more powerful than the amp it is hooked to (04 Jeep GC-infinity system) and may blow them??

I plan on buying new speakers in Aug, so for now should I just leave it as and hook up the HU to the infinity amp and then run RCAs to sub amp? I just don't want my sub to overpower my speakers and not be able to hear the music....

the new headunit will be fine, it will be cleaner signal most likley as well so you should hear a improvement in clarity, i believe that headunit has a 4v preout? make sure you use the rca leads to the factory amp though.. if the amp does not have rca in get a high quality line converter, do not wire from the pigtail.

So, what my question was, if it wasn't clear: Do I hook my speakers directly to my HU (cutting out the factory amp all together) or just keep them installed where they are (to the factory amp) and run, obviously, the factory amp to the HU??

and what did you pay for the x695? just curious, im a kenwood dealer and wanna no if im comparable to were u got it from.

depends on what factory system you have.. and what it puts to the speakers rms, if its something like whats in my landrover no you can power them from the just the deak.. they take like 50rms per speaker and there is 9 speakers in my factory set up, 4 6.5's 2 3in 2 1in and a 8in sub all factory.

what kinda system is it? or just vehicle will do.

**** i coulda done that for $100 shipped. minus the antenna adapter that u most likely did not need..

Well, I guess what's done is done. In the OP I stated I have a 04 jeep GC, it's a 6 speaker upgraded system http://www.wjjeeps.com/radios.htm#INFINITY

If you need more, scroll to the top and view the infinity premium set up (something like that-it has a lil more detail)

I think the amp at 180 watts would be stronger than the HU correct?

my bad im sleepy its almost 3am here, i didnt read what kinda ride you got.. but nah your deck alone with not make the factory set up sound they way your wanting it to.. you gonna need more then what the deck can provide rms to the speakers.. your be luckjy to get 20x4 rms out of it true power. dont worry what the box says or anyone tells your.. 20x4 is gonna me max rms you will get.. you need about 200rms for the 6 speakers to hum like you want.

you will need atleast 25rms to the tweeters, 35ish to the midbass and 50ish rms to the sub stage if it has one. 6 speakers in a jeep in guessing. 4 6.5's and 2 dash speakers if its 4 door? or 2 6.5's 2 speakers in rear or on gate and 2 dash or pillar spealkers? im not to familiar with jeep, not a fan of them at all

It's all good, everything is in the link I provided above. Yes, 6-channel 180-watt amplifier, 2x 2.5" front tweeters, 2x 6x9" front woofers, 2x 6.5" rear full-range speakers....SO I SHOULD LEAVE SPEAKERS WHERE THEY ARE CURRENTLY WIRED AND JUST INSTALL THE HU TO THE FACTORY AND SUB AMP???

yes, but i would do a load check on the leads see what ohm's your system is running. you could actually benefit by bypassing the fact amp if its like 8-10ohms like some fact amps

According to the specs it's a 4 ohm amp--but I don't know how to do a load check to verify this?
