Cop attacks camera man, you think it was justified?

the camera man has the right to say whatever he wanted to the officer(within reason of course)... 1st amendment rights cover that. even if he was being a dick the officer had no right to attack him. the scary part of the whole police brutality issue is the increased number of incidences that are being caught on tape, the scarier part is that virtually no one carries around a video camera, so im sure there's hundreds if not thousands who've been brutalized.

I like how the cop looks around for other officers then attacks him when the other cop leaves. Ithink that cop should lose his job at min.

he was wating for him to start putting away his cam, so that it would be off.

im surprised the camera man got out with the footage and it wasn't confiscated.

probly couldnt figure out the $50k camera.

cop came back and confirmed where the staging area was, the dude starts yelling at him like he is stupid. as a human i would have kicked his *** based on those principals alone.

The camera guy did make a couple smartass remarks, do I think the cop was justified in what he did, no.

either way, yes the camera man treated the cop like an idiot...but if he is a news reporter, doesn't he have the right to video tape at the scene? or am i missing something

he did and supposedly they didnt tell him where to go for the "media staging area" so he just backed up. There could have been more going on.

exactly, to both of yuor posts. imagine all the people that dont have camera proof, but know they have been wronged. But since they are a "criminal" no one will take them seriously.

hmmmmmmm. so since the cop said it once, maybe twice(benefit of doubt), he automatically had 3 warnings? The guy was putting the camera away when the cop attacked him. If you listen he says "i cant turn it off, its my only protection ma'am." after the cop attacks him.

that camera man has the right to ask for the officers badge number if the cop is being a dick. if that officer does not loose his job im going to be sending lots of letters to people. in just one year time i will be out there along side reporters etc providing the country with images for your daily news and i sure as h3ll hope i dont run into a prick like that cop...

It's not that big of a deal .He will get a suspension most likely. it was wrong for the officer to attack the camera man but he did it officer will get suspension if he used excessive force then maybe he would maybe then he would get fired,
